There is growing interest in the use of monodisperse particle-size distribution or PSD (here defined as having 10% RSD or less) to prepare modern HPLC columns because good correlation has been observed between narrow PSD and higher efficiency, longer life and lower pressure drop. HPLC evolution has included synthesis of spherical silica particles with uniform diameters.

Suitable for pressures at 6,000 psi and above, the Bal Seal® reciprocating flange seal with a PEEK backup ring combines proven technology and advanced polymer formulation ideal for CO2 pumps used in supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). Tested to over 1 million cycles, the seal is designed to handle temperatures as low as 5 °C. Unlike elastomeric gaskets and O-rings that may dissolve in CO2 media, the reciprocating seal is engineered to operate effectively at both the low and the high pressures inherent in SFC as the media changes from liquid to gas to vapor to supercritical fluid....
