Anton Paar offers a broad range of scientific instrumentation for surface and materials characterization. Specific technologies include nanoindentation for measuring a material's elastic modulus and hardness, scratch testing for assessing adhesion of coatings and scratch resistance and tribology testing for measuring coefficient of friction and wear of materials. Additionally, a new instrument, the SurPASS 3, which measures the Zeta Potential or charge of filters/membranes, medical devices and other solid surfaces, was launched in January, 2016.
