Answer to What is This on the Cover of American Laboratory November/December

The image on the cover of American Laboratory November/December showed osteocytes (bone cells) from fibrillar compact triceratops horn bone. The tissues were aldehyde-fixed and cryosectioned at 10 μm thickness. The image was captured at 400× magnification using brightfield microscopy by Mark H. Armitage (EM Lab—California State University Northridge, Biology Department, Northridge, CA, U.S.A.).
