The image on the cover of the May issue of American Laboratory was provided by Dr. Fred E. Hossler, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Anatomy & Cell Biology, Quillen College of Medicine, East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. The sample, provided by a local dermatology clinic, was captured using a Zeiss DSM 940 scanning electron microscope. Using routine SEM, the original magnification of this sample was 200x. The image has been artificially colored using Photoshop.
