Point-of-Care Tests for the Blood Lipid Profile

Blood lipid levels must be assessed to monitor for risk of cardiovascular disease, or CVD. The most critical lipids for risk determination are cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and triglycerides. A series of point-of-care testing devices allow accurate, rapid, and inexpensive determination of triglyceride levels, total cholesterol, HDL-cholestorol, and LDL-cholestorol.
