This article points out the variety of applications for capillary electrophoresis, which include characterization of proteins and nucleic acids, separation of basic and chiral pharmaceuticals in drug development, and genetic sequencing. Types of CE include capillary zone electrophoresis, capillary isoelectric focusing, capillary electrochromatography, micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography, and capillary gel electrophoresis.
