Many labs working on methods development rely on the diode array detector (DAD) because it allows the user to look at all wavelengths simultaneously. Improved spectral resolution is a feature of modern photodiode array detectors, as is a new type of flow cell that is based on the principle of total internal reflection. Some useful things to keep in mind before purchasing a DAD are the type of lamp to be used, noise, dynamic range, drift, number of pixels or diodes, and data rate.
