Real-time Monitoring of Genetically Encoded Redox Probes in Mammalian Cell Monolayers

Abstract

Genetically-encoded biosensors based on redox-sensitive green fluorescent protein (roGFP) are used in the monitoring of cell physiology, particularly metabolic processes. The monitoring of roGFP-based data requires high instrument sensitivity. BMG LABTECH's PHERAstar FS multimode microplate reader from BMG LABTECH was used by researchers at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany to study lung adenocarcinoma H1975 cells expressing the cytosolic roGFP2. Cells were exposed to HO and the PHERAstar FS instrument was used to measure ratiometric roGFP from the monolayer of these cells.
