Ultrapure Water Essential for the Direct Determination of Bisphenol A by HPLC-MS/MS

Abstract:

Bisphenol-A, more commonly known as BPA, has been used for decades in the manufacture of plastics and resins. High performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) effectively tests for BPA, often below 2 ppt. With the use of ELGA labwater, scientists at the Institute for the Dynamics of Environmental Processes (CNR) in Venice, Italy, were able to verify that water run through ELGA PURELAB water purification systems did not contain detectable levels of BPA, verifying that ELGA-purified water is free of contamination and ideal for testing.
